Sanctuary, Village and Stronghold

“… even before the town is a place of fixed residence, it begins as a meeting place to which people return…”

and this ability to attract residents to it for intercourse and spiritual stimulation, no less the trade, remains one of the essential criteria of the town…

Project Description

Dromroe Student Village is a residential development located at the University of Limerick consisting of 456 study bedrooms, a Student Centre, management offices and commercial units arranged in 3, 4 and 5 storey blocks either side of a ‘street’.

The construction is steel framed with a mix of brick and cedar cladding.  All bedrooms are en-suite and the living accommodation takes advantage of local views over the River Shannon and the old mill-race that bound the site on two sides.

Quinn Architects acted as lead-consultants for the project and collaborated with DHL Architects.  The project won an RIAI Regional Award in 2001.
