Bernie joined Quinn Architects in 2011 following a career of over 25 years with Murray O Laoire Architects (MOLA) becoming an Associate Director with them in 1998. During that time she gained extensive knowledge of the construction industry and experience in the delivery and management of a range of projects including second and third level educational, healthcare, commercial, housing and retail with particular emphasis on problem solving , detail design, contract administration of the site stage through to project completion and handover.
Since joining Quinn Architects, Bernie has been involved in a number of high profile projects where her technical , design, team co ordination and management skills have seen the successful progression of complex projects from the drawing board to site. Of particular note is the redevelopment of St. Mary’s Abbey in Glencairn where the works were carried out on a phased basis over a 10 year period with the completion of their Visitor Centre being the most recent . The completed redevelopment of Mount St. Vincent Convent buildings into the John Henry Newman Post Graduate Research Centre for Mary Immaculate College and other ongoing works within the MIC campus. The construction of a new 18 bed residential development including a stand alone daycare building and landscaped gardens for people living with dementia for Carebright Ltd. New refurbishment and fit out of the Box Office, Cafe, Bar and Concourse areas of the University Concert Hall in UL. Three storey extension to St. Johns National School.
Bernie specialises as a technical designer with particular interest in applying the principles of the technology of Architecture across all stages of the project from concept to completion. She has an interest in exploring innovative solutions , new products and sustainable, energy efficient building systems.
