Project Description

This project delivered over 1,000 sq.m. of accommodation for an enterprise hub, community incubator offices, head office space for Herdwatch, and a teaching facility for the Tipperary Education & Training Board. The scheme occupied an existing two-storey vacant retail store, facilitating rapid scaling for start-ups and other innovation-driven enterprises and training providers.

The reuse of the vacant building brought new life back into this part of Roscrea, and the project was completed while the Roscrea Town Centre shopping centre remained fully operational and open to the public. The refurbishment brought employment for over 50 people into the building, with the community facility offering meeting rooms, meeting spaces and private offices, including a sound booth for podcast production.

In addition to the new facility, the area to the rear of the building was redeveloped into a public urban realm with hard and soft landscaping, seating and bespoke lighting, rejuvenating this part of the town centre. Quinn Architects worked closely with the overall design team and MKO as Project Managers. The offices are now fully occupied and supporting the town centre daily.
