Project Description

The original home of Mary Immaculate College is the Foundation Building which fronts onto the South Circular Road.  To the rear of the Foundation Building lies a courtyard which in recent years has functioned as a service area. With the expansion of the Campus, the courtyard became a forgotten space.

When we were asked to oversee repairs, we looked beyond this brief to reimagine the space and in the process the transform the courtyard to a Quad.  The layout is dominated by two paths across a manicured lawn – one path creating a dynamic external route from the Foundation Building to the newer teaching spaces to the rear and the second in deference to the Chapel which dominates one side of the Quad.  These improvements are one part of an overall plan to integrate more fully this public space into the overall layout of the Campus.
